Overview
The AKS-74U is one of the starting primary weapons, the others being the TOZ-34 and the MP5.
It has fairly unimpressive stats, with relatively high recoil, low accuracy, and damage. It should only used for a challenge. Attaching a suppressor will make this weapon more viable, but even then it is completely outmatched by the Groza.
It is recommended to use a better assault rifle.

The AKS-74U - short assault rifle (the "U" suffix stands for"Ukorochennyj" meaning "Shortened" in English) was developed in the late 1970s, derived from the AK-74 assault rifle.
The AKS-74U was intended as a personal defence weapon for vehicle operators and special operations forces, who required compact but relatively powerful individual automatic weapons. The AKS-74U has the size and effective range of a typical submachine gun, but has advantage of firing rifle cartridges, while its components are also interchangable with the current standard issue service rifle of Russia, the AK-74. Since its introduction, the AKS-74U has also been issued to various Police and other law enforcement agencies acres the USSR and Post-USSR countries, including Russia.
It's effective range is greatly limited by poor accuracy at ranges beyond 150-200 meters, although the round itself remains lethal at much greater ranges. The AKS-74U is also limited by its tendency to rapidly overheat when firing in bursts.
